.MSC utilities stop working

My newly installed W2K Professional is compromised: when clicking on "Computer Management", "Services", "Event Viewer" and all other .msc utilities, nothing happens.

Virus scanning doesn't find anything

Can you please tell me how to fix it?

Do I need to download some anti-virus software or some MS patch? Or edit the registry?

Try right clicking either Application, Security or system and the properties. In the box that opens go to the 'filter' tab and make sure there is a tick in the types of events you want to log... If only Error is checked, then there will be no activity unless the system detects an error. If is a new install, then it isn't very likely you will have errors.
