I know on an ACD phone and a user pushes the MSB key, any calls to this agent will skip him/her or go to VM when a caller rings in on the ACD line.

Is there a way to have similar functionality for the regular DN or is there a way to configure a key, FTR, or CLS in the TN to be able to hit a single key and direct the incoming call directly to voicemail?

PBX: CS1000
Phones: Nortel/Avay 1140e & 1150

Nope. You would have to add the MSB key to that phone or forward directly to VM.

Press the forward button. The first time you will have to add the extension to voice mail, but after that the set retains that number so all you have to do is press the fwd key.

Thanks for the replies. I did find that it is an option to add the "ignore" soft key to the phone, but haven't found out where you add the feature. I am guessing it is added on the PBX level, just not sure if it is a feature that can be added with the Meridian CS100 PBX system. The link to the feature is here: on page 140

trvlr1: I used your suggestion on my desktop phone & what the user wants is that if he is having a conversation with someone, to be able to press a button to ignore the call temporarily and have it go to voice mail. When I tried your suggestion on my phone, it forwarded the phone but the current call continued to ring in.

That's running the phones with SIP firmware on them not sure if the feature is there with Unistim or not.

I think you want the Call Deflect function which was referenced in the answer from StanleySteamer.

Again, thanks to everyone for the replies. I have found out that this is not an option with the Meridian CS1000 PBX. The option is available with an IP Office type PBX. We are currently exploring using Avaya IP Office & will implement it probably within a year.

Call Deflect was introduced in CS1000 Release 7.0.
