Hi,

When opening word documents they appear differently on my screen to on other users screens, even though the page setup is the same (as it is the same document). This affects my printing, as documents which are one page on other users computers turn into 2 pages on mine.

What is causing this?

P.S

Win2k SP4
MS Office 2000 SP3

Cheers in advance.

Hi,

The user would be printing to another printer (although the exact same model, using the same driver)

Cheers.

Hi BlackS2,

Are your printer settings (via control panel - not through word) the same or do you perhaps have a different default paper size set (A4 instead of Letter or something similar).

Enjoy,
Tony

Are you sure the driver is identical - not just for the same OS but the same version of the driver?

If you are certain that the drivers are absolutely identical, then this may be a graphics driver causing the change - but this is far less usual (in fact rare these days) than the printer driver.

Even with the same printer driver, you can get different results if the drivers are not configured exactly the same. Indeed, you can even get different results if the PCs' video cards differ or are the same and have different settings (eg resolution, refresh rate)!

Cheers

Maybe you can try using PDFwriter or Acrobat, so that you can change you Word file in the form of PDF, and it will show the same in every computer.

You can download PDFwriter in download.com, and there is one of them is free. You can print you file by PDFwriter(after install the programme, your printer list will have it) to PDF file.

Adobe Acrobat has the same function.

Hi,

The user has since been unable to reproduce this error and so It may have been a one off thing. As I mentioned before the user is connected directly to a different printer that the other users, but it is the same model and driver setup. The other thing I have been thinking could cause the problem are incorrect font's installed on the users machine (in comparison to ones installed on the other users machines) I am looking into this problem and will report back when I have an answer!

Cheers for all your replys.
