MS Word Locking Up When Not On Our Network

Hello,

We have about 50 laptops that our students are using. About 8 of them are having some problems when they take the laptops home. It seems once they get off of our campus network, MS Word locks up on them. I haven't been able to track it down to a specific function they are doing in Word, but they all claim that once they bring it back on campus and connect to the wireless LAN, they don't have the problem.

I'm kind of baffled here, this is only happening on 8 computers, and they were all imaged exactly the same. MS Office was part of the image.

Any ideas?

Check "File Locatiions" settings in Word on the problem laptops. You do this by using TOOLS\OPTIONS\FILE LOCATIONS. It is possible that the default location where Word is trying to read and save is a network server that has a mapped drive.
