MS Teams - Direct Routing

Has anyone successfully set up teams integration, utilizing direct routing? Any comments or feedback? The documentation is approximately 150 pages. Will an IP office users extension, the Avaya Workplace app.l(s) and Team client(s) ALL ring at the same time on inbound calls – internal and external? We want our users to be able to answer from their physical phone, Workplace, or their Teams app.

Why did you select direct routing instead of any of the other options?

What are the advantages of the other integration options over direct routing?

I will be doing Avaya Calling using the Avaya plug in for Teams in the future for a client. When they click to dial, it is supposed to bring up the Workplace app for calling. I had a call with our rep and an engineer where the engineer pushed toward Avaya Calling opposed to Direct routing due to the complications. Don’t let this discourage you in any way as I am interested in Direct routing also. The docs seem a little vague to me though.

Were there any more specific about what the complications were? And what part of the docs seem vague? I think one of the limitations of the avaya calling plug-in is that it does not work on mobile devices so on those devices the user will just need to use Workplace

There was nothing in particular he said was complicated but said it was just alot to incorporate and that I need to go the calling route. He said there is no way to fully integrate as in the end, each system is independent of the other. My client has corporate trying to push Teams phones on them but due to local need of phones for emergency paging and calling, which could be needed during internet outage, is giving them leverage for on-premise system. The Avaya engineer provided documentation for both but suggested Avaya calling using the Teams plug-in for this customer. This seems to be the least amount of integration but will at least allow them to call from within Teams out of the on-prem system with no extra Teams licensing.
