I have a server installed with Server 2003 standard and when I am at the server and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to login, the user name box and the password box are both greyed out. I can login through TS fine. Any ideas??

Do you have VNC installed? I ran into this same problem when I did -- Uninstall VNC or stop the service if it's running, this may solve your problem.

VNC is not installed. I have also checked to make sure Log On Locally is configured correctly and have restarted the Netlogon service. I can;t find anything on Microsoft's site regarding this issue.

Did you by chance reboot the server from terminal services? I have the same problem on one of many servers and I still haven't found a solution.

I've installed VNC after the fact and use it to reboot remotely...

I don't think it was rebooted through TS. I can still connect through TS and manage the server that way.

Try connecting with RDP this way:

mstsc /console

This forces the local desktop to be locked when you RDP into it. It would be interesting to see what happens when you do this.

Not sure why this is happening. I will see if I can dig somethign up.

That seems to have solved the issue. I connected with the console attribute and now I can log on to the console from the server.

Thanks again.
