Using Excel XP(2002). I have prompts that work sometimes and other times the prompt screen appears without the text. It accepts the values entered so the prompts are actually working, it's just the question that is supposed to be asked cannot be seen.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dom

probably to do with repainting the screen graphics wise - when large amounts of memory are being used, screen re-paining is one of the 1st things to be sacrificed

Need more info on setup and how everything gets used if that isn't the cause here though...

Geoff,

The .xls file is tied to an SQL database. We just open the .xls document and click on refresh but no text for the prompts appear. Not sure what other info you would need and/or to ascertain whether it is or isn't a memory issue.

Thanks,

you've already told me what I needed to know - ie whether or not it was being called from code

In terms of memory usage, does the screen "freeze" wehn this happens ? Is it a big query (lots of data) ?
Are there any commonalities when this occurs (certain dates ro date ranges etc.....) ?

In terms of setup, what process was followed to create the prompts ? through the wizard or were they created afterwards ?

Excel doesn't freeze but actually returns the data based on criteria entered from prompts. Promts were entered directly into the value field although I have checked the values in the prompt area itself. Not a huge amount of data. Could be anywhere from 300 to a couple thousand records being returned.

Coding is below:

>=[>= Paid Thru Date] And <=[<= Paid Thru Date]

Very weird - I'm afraid that I cannot replicate the issue here (also XP). The fact hat there is not that much data returned would seem to indicate that it shouldn't be a memory issue but that is the only thing I can think of that would xcause part of the screen to not display.
