I need a piece of software to do project management, timelines and so on. MS Project is ideal for what I want to do, but it doesn't work cross platform from Mac to PC.
Anyone know of a piece of software that will help?
FastTrack from aecsoft.com produces a scheduler program for Windows and MAC that claims to be able to interchange data with MS Project. I have not used it. There may be others, but that would be a place to start.
Web based project management packages are coming out in droves. A browser-based UI should allow both Windows and MAC clients access to data. Worth considering as an alternative.
I just saw a demo from Steelray (knowledgepm.com) that is browser-based access to an MS Access or MS SQL Server database created from MS Project. I think you have to start with MS Project, then save it as an .mdp or SQL db, then upload to the web site, then anyone with a browser I think can update it from there, or the person with MS Project can overwrite it. About $100 per user, which can be concurrent if they read only or per named user if you need to update etc. If you check this out please update me with your feedback.
