I have three users that have MS Project 98 with SR-1. We are running a Netware 5.1 file server with a shared drive mapped to all workstations at this site. These three individuals have no problem opening and saving to their local drive, but cannot open files from this network drive (designated by the drive letter G). It is a general message with no error number: Microsoft Project cannot access: "G:\data\clients\antegeni\antegeni.mpp"

These files and folders are wide open in this area when it comes to Netware security, I have tested to see if others were in and they weren't. Ideas? [sig][/sig]

Have you gotten a resolution for this? I just ran into the same problem.

Yes I have. There is a compatibility issue between the Novell Client 3.2x and MS Project (strange but it is Microsoft). There are two files that I have that if you use them to replace the files with the same names on the PCs it will alleviate this issue. The only negative I have seen is the Novell Client then presents itself as version 3.20 even though it is 3.21 (no big deal).

These files and the procedures for the fix can be viewed and downloaded from from support type "MS Project" (with the quotes) in the search window and click search. Click on the link that reads "Unable to open MS Project 98 files". Install the 9532PT3.EXE (TID: 2956428) and you should be ready to go.

I installed the patch 9532PT3.EXE because I was getting the same "Microsoft Project cannot access: G:\alex\project3.mpp"

Now, when I try to open a project file, I get a fetal error message on a blue screen. Control-alt-delete restart is the only way to get out.

Has anyone run into this problem?

Nope. The patch fixed our issue cleanly.
