Help! I need to customize the legend that appears on the bottom of the print page of the Gantt chart. Is there any way to change that legend? I dont use MS Project that often, so any help would be appreciated.
What I have is a list of projects that are planned for this year. It includes both Active and future ones.
The future projects that havent started yet, I colored the bar in the gantt chart with a red color, as opposoed to the blue for active projects.
Is there a better way to do that? How do I show in the legend what the red bars vs the blue bars represent?
There is a way to set this up to happen *somewhat* automagically but your manual approach is easier to maintain.
As for the legend, I wouldn't worry about it in this case. If people looking at the Gantt chart are unable to determine the different between past and future then colour coding it isn't going to be of much assistance to them.
Is there a way to take out some parts of the legend? All I have in my project are the bars, so I dont really care about the milestones etc that are in the legend. Any way to customize that?

Click on a cell in the Name column that you don't want appearing in the legend (for example, "Milestones").
In the text entry area, change "Milestones" to "*Milestones".
What I did for the legend was create it in paint and then drop the image in as a footer and disable the legend. Works like a charm!!! I urge you to try it!
