MS Project 2002 keeps crashing when I insert a project without the "Link to project" box ticked.

I am trying to do this to flatten a project somebody has developed as a master project with lot of sub-projects. This approach does not appear to work well and I would like to reduce it back to one file.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how to minimize these crashes or what could be causing them?

For information I have a Dell latitude laptop with 512MB of memory and using Windows 2000.

It may be a silly question but... could you not just copy and paste the tasks from one plan into the other?

I could but you loose some tings such as tasks marked as milestones loose that characterisitc, so you have to go in and change them. So far this is the best way around the problem I have found but it would still be nice to be able to get the feature to work properly.

Thanks

John

I work with excel and msProj and i had the same isue.
what was the problem : an error '#waarde' in a cell caused a logout in msproject!

hope it helps!

This is a known bug, you have to get a fix and that is done by calling Microsoft. We had this problem and it is now resolved.

Let me clarify...

The problem we had was that when we inserted subprojects into a master project, anytime you cut and pasted rows, the machine would crash.

A fix that Microsoft created did the trick.

Apologis for late reply, have been away.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to get the fix from Microsoft. Is it available as an on-line download, how did you get hold of it?

Thanks again

John
