Hello All

I am having problems with Office 2000 applications crashing when trying to save or print. This happens with all applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). We are using Office 2000 on Win XP platform.

We use McAfee enterprise on our network. I identified the AVShield service is causing this. When i stop the service none of the applications crash.

My problem is i can not afford to stop this service as it scans the entire system.

Has anyone else come across this problem, if so is there any cure for this?

Thanks

what version and patch are you using

certainly never seen any issue

We are using Version 8.0 and patch version is 10.
Office applications are working fine on Windows 2000 platform, but not XP.
I know for a fact that the cause is the shield service. When stopping this service all Office applications don't crash.

Found the fix.
McAfee patch version was 1 on the XP builds, which didn't update for some reason. Updated the patch to version 14 and no problems what so ever.

Patch 10 is indeed old. Current patch is 14; the latest I can vouch for the safety of is 13. Recommend you look into moving up to more current patches, or re-D/L the 8.0i installables from the product downloads site, as the current Enterprise 8.0i package has Patch 13 rolled into it.--The Bug Guy

Thanks for your input guys. Now that the patch is updated there are no issues.
