MS Management Console alternate credentials

I'm used to running MS Networking Tools from my computer, i.e. using MMC to snap in AD Users and Computers, Exchange System Manager, DNS, etc.

We are using some Outlook sync software for our Treo's (called Good Link) that will not work if the user is part of Microsoft's "Protected Groups", i.e. Domain Admins. Until Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 3 comes out, I have to remove myself from the Domain Admins group to make Good Link work. Since I've done this, I cannot run any of my normal Sys Admin Tools from my computer.

Is there a way to launch MMC with alternate credentials, i.e. is there a switch I could add to the command to use "domain\administrator" instead of passing my credentials?

Let me know. Thanks.

Why don't you create a shortcut on your desktop, then right click on the shortcut and use the "Run As" option which will allow you to choose a separate username and password to use to run the application.

Thanks. That works great. I cannot seem to use the Exchange System Manager Plugin, but the other ones I use all seem to work fine at this point.

Thanks again!

you can also launch it this way via a command line ... and have it prompt you to enter a password:

runas /user:domain\username "mmc.exe compmgmt.msc"

You need to quotes and you can use any console you like.

Oh cool! Thanks.
