Is there a way to create an Alias number for the exchange vmail?
What I'm asking for is to create a second number that the mailbox see's for dialing into. The ability to have my cell ring and fwd after lets say 4 rings back into my mailbox that exists on my office phone. In Octel its called an alias! So I have my desk number in there 5551234 and an alias 5554444 which would be my cell. So in the exchange is there a way to add 5554444 and 5551234 as a second dial in number for access?

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I'm still not clear as to what you are trying to accomplish. But you can add multiple extensions to the same Exchange mailbox.

If you are trying to have the system outcall to your cell/phone#, that is not a feature of either Exchange 2007 or 2010.

Short end is I want to be able to call the voicemail number and it knows from my cell phone and the voicemail push me directly into my personal office mailbox.
In the Octel it's an Alias feild. 2 numbers that can see a mailbox. A 4 digits DN 1234 and your cell number xxx5554444. Both when you hit the vmail key on your hardset gets you directly into your mailbox and when you call the voicemail from your cell number it knows the 5554444 is associated with your mailbox 1234. This will allow you to put a fwd no answer on your cell phone to ring to your outside office dial in number to your voicemail at the office. This way all calls go into your office vmail after 4 rings on both your cell phone and on your office phone. 1 mailbox all with the nice feature of email notification on vmails.

Oh I do that right now with my cell phone. You don't need to put in an "alias", but I guess that depends on what your cell phone provider gives your integration.

If you forward your mobile RNA/Busy to your office DID number what happens? The caller should hear the same as if they dialed your office DID.

Yes it will ring on a fwd no answer from my cell phone to any number. But now it will fwd no answer to the office number 5551234 but will ring to vmail after 4 more rings. So thats 8 rings now 4 on the cell phone then it will fwd to my office and ring 4 more times. Now if you had a direct dial in number of 5551111 to your voicemail DN for the system you would be able to do a fwd no answer on your cell phone to that number 5551111. That way it goes directly into the vmail instantly after 4 rings. system knows because of your Alias "5554444" is in there that the call should go directly into mailbox 1234. Pow Pow 1 single mailbox. With all the options. Starting to see microsoft again strikes, a Friday afternoon creation befor beers. Callpilot, Octel and other vmail systems all can do this....For years! They can do all this with desktop messaging....

Oh I see your issue. Just have a secondary number/extension/DID to the same mailbox. I do that for my mobile forwarding RNA/Busy and use that same DID number for my faxes (so fax calls don't ring my desk phone).

So in my example -
I have my main office DID 2815555555 (rings me at my desk)
My office fax DID 2815555556 (routes straight to coverage = UM)
My cell DID 8325555555 covers/forwards in RNA/Busy conditions to 2815555556 (my fax DID) so to the caller this feels just like if the call were going to the cell provider voicemail system.

My Exchange 2007 UM mailbox has 2 numbers assigned to it - 5555 and 5556 (in my 4 digit dialplan example). So when UM takes a call where the Called Party ID is either of these numbers it answers with my same mailbox.

Ok, that would work with 2 DID's with the same mailbox number. Hmmm wish they thought of an Alias.....
Thank you for your idea, going to try that for now! =
Good idea! Good band-aid.
