Hey all, not sure if anyone has seen this.

We have 2 exchange servers in a WAN environment.

When sending a meeting request from a mailbox on one server, to a mailbox on the other server, the receiving end does not receive the request in the proper format. It does not show the "accept", "decline", etc buttons.

They receive the email in the below format:

when..
where..
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

thats exactly what is included in the email.

Instead of the buttons it will show a squigly line and stars

The requests are being sent from the 5.5 exchange server to the 2003 exchange server.

Any ideas? sounds like something might not be configured correctly on one of the servers.

thx

the site connectors are fine. They're configured with all the needed information from both organizations (subnets, servers, etc). Anything specific you are looking for?

I see that sometimes if the meeting request goes out over the Internet as an SMTP message, instead of just through the MTA.

I'm with Zelandakh - sounds like a connector issue.

And, not to sound cheeky, but the quick answer might just be to upgrade your 5.5 box. It's well out of support now, and must be as insecure as hell.
