Hi,

I got a little problem: Who of you already tried to make Mail-box (Exchange) backups with ARCServe???
I always get an error message indicating that the users hasn't enough Rights... I followed more than once to be sure, the procedure my MS about how to setup a user to backup the Exchange mails... Any solutions?? thnx

The backup account does have to have certain rights to the local computer as well as to your Exchange organization. It's been so long since we installed Arcserve that I can't recall what rights are needed. Have you tried calling Arcserve support?

Arcserve Technical Support Hotline (631)342-5880

Here what is going to happen when you make the call. HE will ask you to:

1. Verify your version and Service pack level of Arcserve. You will need to be a the most current SP.
2. Verify your version of Exchange agent, Service pack if required.
3. Ensure you have have Outlook or old exchange client installed on Exchange server. It's a good Idea anyway.
4. Ensure you have an Exchange mailbox "eservice or dbagent" NOT hidden. Send mail to it, you can use the Exchange client above.
5. Know if your Exchange server is on a pdc, bdc or stand-alone server. A stand-alone server has other steps for security. A bdc is easier but maybe not as secure.
6. If I remember right you will need to get a copy of
It has step-by-step instruction on setting up security.

Once you have done this and it still wont work make the call, remember HE will ask you each of the above questions.
