I am looking at purchasing Ms Access 2007 strictly for the ability to create exe files. However I see several different versions.

Home / Student

Retail

Office Access

Which one will make the distributable EXE files ?

All I want is the chance to prove money won't make me happy.

Access does not make Exe's

You can get a distributable runtime version.

With every version of Access they seem to change the product name.

For 2003 it was Visual Studio Developer Extensions for Microsft office. I believe this is an additional product to the version of Access you buy otherwise.

The runtime version is like Access but it does not allow you to make any design changes to a database. You can use the command line switch /runtime to start Msaccess.exe in runtime version to see what it is like.

I hope this answeres your question.

You can make .mde's, which are almost the same thing, but will need some version of Acess on the client machine to use them.

I have to disagree that MDE's are the same thing. They do protect the VBA code from reading. However, there can be substantial logic the exposed queries as to what the application does.
