operation invalid without a current index (3019)

I am getting the above error while I am trying to retrieve one of my access database file. I went to microsoft website and installed Microsoft Jet 3.5 but that also couldn't resolve my problem.
I have
Office 97 (Access 97)
Patch 1 and Patch 2

and plus Microsoft Jet 3.5

I not 100% sure about this but have you used the repair option to see if that does anything?

Thanks for the reply mdav but I have already done the repair thing and that didn't work out. Anyway I have restored the database from the backup I have to resolve this problem.
