MS Access as Linked Server

Ever since I upgrade to SQL2000 I cannot access my MS Access linked servers through Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0. The message I get is:

Error 7399: OLE DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error.

That's it. Any ideas? Do I need to change any settings? This worked fine in 7.0...

use MDAC 2.6 in Acces server location, for upgrade Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB

The server where the Access DB lives has MDAC 2.7 on it. Any clue what else it might be?
