In access, I have a field called timestamp that autofills in on the first entry. I need the date to change whenever any record is updated in that field. Any ideas? I need this A.S.A.P. so any reposnse is greatly appreciated.

In the BeforeUpdate event procedure of the data entry form for this table:
Me![name of timestamp control] = Now()

Hope This Helps, PH.

I have the exact same issue, but know very little about access. I was able to create a private sub that changes the timestamp field when a specific field that has the private sub in the on update property. But I need this for a load of cells. how do I / where do I make it a public sub or function? and then, I am hoping, I can highlight all the fields I want to apply this to (so if any of them change, they update the same shared timestamp field) and point them to the same public sub?

thanks!

oh, sorry - I don't want this to apply to ANY field in the form. I have seperate sections of fields, and if any data in section 1 changes, then update the timestamp for section 1, any changes in section 2 then modify section 2 timestamp. and sections are just a group of data all on the same form.
