Hello all,
I'm trying to implement MRP in a Macola ES environment. How does MRP take into consideration Demand during lead time ? In other words forecast. We dont have a forecast module installed. Eg: I want to MRP to generate a CP order= Minimum requirement + additional qty's to satisfy demand during lead time.
Thanks

It will do this automatically. If you have a requirement for a part tomorrow, yet the lead time is 10 days, Macola will still create a CP for the demand. This will be marked with the "too late" exception, which you can cure by pushing the pegged demand out to a date in the future, or expediting the PO due date to tomorrow.

I am not sure what you mean by forecast in this scenario, demand within the lead time period does not necessarily = forecast.

If you want to forecast items, mark them as master scheduled on the item master and enter forecast orders in the MS module.

MRP will generate CP orders from all "Requirement" orders. Requirement orders would be classified as Shop Orders, Customer Orders, Customer blanket Orders, and negative inventory.

Based on all "requirements" MRP will show when you should place the order to get the material in time for the requirement.

So rather than use a forecast, you could simply put in blanket orders. The results would be the same, only the requirement type would change. Forcast Order = FOO (I think) and Customer Blanket Order = COB

Thank you for your response. As far as Customer blanket order is concerned its asking me to choose the customer, which I think will be more work since one part goes to multiple customer.
As far as Master scheduled items are concerned, after you suggested I tried entering the orders in enter forecast in MS module and it seems to be working with the way I want to.
Now my issue is
1) Formula for quantity available, what should that be (A,B,C, D or E)
2) I have chosen my reorder point as=safety stock, now for regeneration should I check or uncheck the box " Subtract safety stock from quantity available"

Thanks

Qty available should be A. From the help file:

Warning: It is strongly recommended that you leave this field set to A. Formula A is the recommended formula to use for a typical MRP installation. Formulas B, C, and D contain on-order or allocated quantities or both. These options are for companies that do not use the Shop Floor Control or Purchase Order and Receiving packages (or both), and have not entered their own purchase order and shop order data through the MRP Order Entry application. Formula E, the zero option, can be used to get a rough idea of requirements when inventory on-hand quantities are known to be inaccurate. This should only be a stopgap measure to be used while inventory records are being corrected, and inventory control methods are being put in place to insure accuracy.

The safety stock issue is a personal preference. If you subtract it, then the CP order will be larger.
