I have 2 Oracle databases that I need to keep synchronised which I intend to do through a messaging system.
I am looking into the possibility of using MQSeries to do this.
Can anybody tell me if it is difficult to get Oracle 8i databases to talk through MQSeries? Do they need an additional piece of software to allow it?
Is MQSeries very different to Oracle's Advanced Queuing?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!

Thanks

It is possible !!!! I have Mqseries communicating with an
Oracle 8i datadbase on an AIX platform and also on a Win2k
server environment. The configuration also includes PeopleSoft via Microfocus Cobol. PeopleSoft and Mqseries like many other application products do not like to interact. I have found a way!!! It is technically intensive. If you would like to discuss in detail call 615-504-6797 and leave a message. It would be difficult for me to assess your problem without more detail but as hard as it was to develop a solution for this system I'm almost certain we could solve your problem. I many questions, such as are you using embedded SQL, static or dynamic calls etc.. The above platforms also exchange messages for subquent update to multiple Oracle 8ixx databases.

Regards !!!

Hey DUCEYBROWN , I am interested in the same, we are evaluating possibilities to replicate our Oracle 8I Database server (on Solaris) but we haven't found something accessible from ORACLE itself, can you explain a little more about your solution.

We have worked a little with MQSeries on AIX, Linux and AS400 and i think that this could be a very good choice because of the reliability .

Thanks in advance
