MQSeries Installation problem on Windows NT 1

Am literally tearing my hairs out here esp cos I have done this in Blore on Win 2000 (PC) as well as XP (laptop). I have 2 CDs with me, a trial version I brought with me and which I used to install on my PC as well as Laptop (both succesfully) as well as the production version I received from IBM to install on my client machine. But later today I tried the trial version also and it is also giving the same problem.

Am going to say step-by-step the installation instructions I followed as well as the problems I faced. The server on which I am installing is a stand-alone NT Server 4.0 -> ABCBARIDG001. And I logged in as user ADMINIDG which is part of the administrator group.

Installation:
1. Started like normal, clicking setup.exe from CD which launched the Websphere MQ installation launchpad
a. In that Software Prerequisites all except for Microsoft MMC was ticked OK. MMC I installed from the CD so that was also taken care of.
b. In the Network Prerequisites, where it asks for “Do both conditions apply?” with respect to the Windows 2000 domain controller, I chose No as the option and continued
2. Then clicking on Websphere MQ installation tab it launched the Installation wizard where I chose Typical and continued and it ended with saying Succesfully Installed and immediately it showed the Prepare Websphere MQ Wizard.
3. Here after clicking next just showed 2 more screens of installation progress bars and then stopped abruptly with the following error screen and error messages in the same:
a. Websphere MQ is not correctly configured for the users of Windows 2000 domain.
b. An unexpected error happened during the data validation for the user ABCBARIDG001\ ADMINIDG
c. Verify that the network is operational and all the domain controllers are available
Now it seems that the application is over-riding that initial No in the Network prerequisites and somehow assuming that there is a windows 2000 domain (my guess!). Also these are the following users as well as groups set up in the server:

MQM (group) -> MUSR_MQADMIN (user)
ADMINIDG (user)

Administrators (group) -> ADMINIDG (user)

Please note that the installation happens but because I could not proceed with the “Prepare Websphere MQ Wizard” it creates all sorts of problems. I meant it opens the Websphere MQ
Services window as well as the Websphere MQ Explorer window as well. But now inspite of adding all the different users to the MQM group as well as to Administrators group thus making them all admins, when I say open Websphere MQ Services, it gives an error message “You do not have the rights of Websphere MQ Administration. You have to be a member of the group ADMINISTRATORS and MQM or u have to connect with system ID – AMQ4212”. But here the user ADMINIDG is a part of both the groups, Administrators and MQM!

Trying to open Websphere MQ explorer, it gives an error message “Not possible to initialize the objects of the Websphere MQ Service. Server execution failed – AMQ4100”

There is some problem in terms of either
a) application is over-riding that initial No in the Network prerequisites and somehow assuming that there is a windows 2000 domain
b) The logged in user (I even tried with other user ids which are also admins) is not being recognized as an administrator.

Well i solved it nevertheless..! And all due to a space in folder names!!! [thumbup]

Rohit, I am facing a similar problem, can you pls be more specific to the solution ..

Using Microsoft Explorer or a command window, see if a file exists with the name C:\Program. If it exists and can be removed or renamed, do so and rerun the installation. If it exists and cannot be removed or renamed, rerun the installation, but choose an installation path that does not begin with C:\Program and does not contain any spaces in the folder name; for example: C:\MQSeries.

Thanks, Vijay for yr valuable information. I do have a file called Program in c:\. I deleted it and now everything is working fine.
