*I did look at that link you gave and I couldn't find anything I could understand.
I don't get any 'error messages'
However, I'd like to know:
What use is the MPRexe?
Why does it want to access the internet?
What is a Novell Network?
Does the Novell come with all PC's?
Please 'xcuse my utter ignorance, I don't mean to be a pain.
Thanks,
mxw ~Eeegads~
Block Inbound/Outbound Ports Unless Needed:
111 - 442 TCP and UDP In/Out
(Some Multiplayer Games and services do use these upper ports.
Use your own judgement based on your trust of the web site and
or program/service provided by them.)
Since I didn't have this error message before, just a few days ago,
I then assumed 'I do not need it' and have configured my firewall to
blocked future MPREXE.exe outbound UDP at port (137).
So, now I'll see if my computer has a problem with that new firewall rule.
Thanks kindly for reading and other suggestions are welcome
MPREXE.EXE is a Microsoft file that allows Windows to have more then one client and protocol. MPR stands for Multi (or Multiple) Provider Router. It's primary function is to route incoming and outgoing packet between the adapter and different clients. Kimber
The more I learn, the more I realize how much more there is to know!
mxw, click start--find files--and search your computer for MPREXE.EXE. How many do you find and what folders are they in? There should only be one and it would be in the system folder. I ask because if you find more than one such as one in your windows folder then you could have a trojan disguised as a legit windows file. I've seen that trick before.
I just want to know if it is safe to delete MPREXE.exe or block it from accessing the internet. I have done some asking around and had various responses.
Kento!
Eeegads ... I checked and I've got just one, whew!!
thanks eh!
