I have an MPEG File that is about 1 and a half hours long. However, every player I play it in claims it's 16 minutes long, and when I've watched 16 minutes of it, the video stops. HOWEVER, if I manually move the slider to, say, half way, it actually starts playing from 45 minutes in...

I remember having a similar problem before with a file where the slider just wasn't there - and I fixed it with a little program (from Microsoft I think) that adds the time stamp back into the file correctly...does anyone know the program I'm talking about and where to find it? Also, is it likely to fix my problem, and if not, does anyone know something that will?

Try having a look for gspot. It's a video and audio codec app that may be able to fix it.

Have a look at and download the klite codec pack, it contains not only gspot but also the MPC (Media Player Classic) which I find is an excellent media player.

I think gspot is just an analyzer tool.

DragonQ0105,
Decompress and recode the video will do the trick. This is a Windows XP forum, and this type of question is not usually handled at this site. I suggest going to if that's not the answer you were looking for.
