Mp3 and real audio files playing too fast

HI

I am running 2000 Pro on a compaq deskpro En. Both Real Player and Winamp are playing mp3's and .RAM slightly too fast. any ideas why ? If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

What was the solution? Updated drivers for sound or video? We have dell boxes with Win2k that is happening to us as well. I have already downloaded the new media player and Real player but still the music and video play too fast. PLEASE HELP!
