Hi,
I have window2k on this machine for years already and the hardware seems to want to retire. I buy a new motherboard but not a new hdd. Before I switch the old disk to the new MB, I dele all the drivers for the IDE controller. I reboot the old hdd on the old MB, everything seems to be OK. I move the old disk to the new MB and boot the system. I press the F8 on booting, getting to safe mode, hoping to by pass any particular vga, modem.... drivers. The disk refuse to boot, giving error like :
"unaccessable boot device"
Is there a way to migrate this old disk to new MB w/o reinstalling the OS. It will be a pain in the a to redo all the application programs, settings and printers. If I can just make it boot, I think I can install the drivers for the new MB into the OS on the old disk making in run again, right? Will making of an emergency boot disk help and how to do that (I've done that for a 98 but I don't know how to do it for the w2k, sort of crazy, right?)
Pls give me a hand. Tks for your help.
