Hi guys,
I am trying to move the last users mailbox in my organisation to a new Exchange server, I get the following error when I try to do so:

An unexpected, unknown error has occurred.
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 8004011b-0000-00000000

Can someone please help?

Thanks,
Tam

Are you able to run Exmerge against the mailbox? What version of Exchange?

Are you able to export the data then delete and recreate the mailbox on the new server?

Hi Guys,
I'm running Exchange 2000 Std, I have not tried to export the data and recreate the mailbox, I was trying to keep it simple. What does exmerge do?

Exmerge is in the Exchange Resource Kit and allows you to create a .PST file of an entire mailbox. Try to run this against the mailbox to see if a good pst file comes out.

If this works, you can always delete the mailbox, recreate it on the new server, and run Exmerge to import the data to the new mailbox.

When I try to run exmerge the same error gets drawn up.... Strange, will try a cleanup of the database, in the meantime any suggestions would be much appreciated...

Thanks,
Tam

The error code is for corrupt data. Try the exmerge and then try to repair the PST file it creates (if it can create it). Use scanpst on teh PST file to try a repair.

You might not get all of the mail out of the mailbox. Failing this, delete the mailbox. If it's an important mailbox that your client/user can't live without look at how much Microsoft charges for help and get ready to pull out the wallet.

Can you open the mailbox w/ Outlook? If so, pull the info. down to a PST file, delete the mailbox, recreate on the new server, open it up and dump the PST up to it...
