Hi
I am moving users from a windows 2000 domain to a windows 2003 small business server domain and I want to be sure that I don't goof up.

I think all I need to do is point the clients DNS to the IP of the sbs server and then enter the ip or server name\connectcomputer in the address bar of an IE browser and then follow the wizard through adding the user to the domain.

Does this sound about right?

Not too sure if I am understanding properly, but here is what I recommend. If this is a totally new 2003 AD Domain, then I would create a Trust between the two domains and then use the AD MigrationTool(ADMT)to migrate accounts in one process. If you are having to move Exchange accounts as along with the user accounts then I would recommend activating SID History for the use of ADMT to map the SIDS for ease in the use of the Exchange Migration Tool.

I think you misunderstood his question.

He has a Small Business Server 2003 which will not Trust any other Domain. Doing the Trusts and then ADMT is not an option with SBS. SBS can not trust any other domian...

I am looking to do the same thing and I can't find a way. I might just Rebuild my AD from scratch with the new SBS Server.

Anyone else have any other Ideas?

Thanks for the help.
You will need to start over as best as I could tell.
It's not a terrible experience, you can use the many many wizards to help move the process along.

My biggest concern was the users profiles/.PST/Documents being accessable.
This link was useful to me...

"We can only migrate existing local user profiles to domain user profiles.
The connectcomputer wizard doesn't migrate domain profiles.

To preserve client user profiles and settings that was on an old domain to
the new SBS 2003 domain, a manual way is documented in the following KB
articles:

314045 How to restore a user profile in Windows 2000

324734 How To Restore a User Profile in Windows Server 2003

There are also other options. For instance, you can create a local profile
on the workstation, copy the original domain profile to the local profile,
dis-join domain, and then join the SBS 2003 domain by using the
connectcomputer wizard. During this wizard, you can migrate the local
profile to new domain profile.

If the workstation is running Windows XP, you can also use the File and
Settings Transfer Wizard to export the original profile. Then after joining
to the new domain, use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard to import the
profile. "

Also something that got me briefly is that you cannot us IP/connectcomputer script you must use servername/connectcomputer to move over the client to the new domain... Go figure.
