I working on moving a DB from a SQL7 DB I have here in my office to another SQL7 DB I will be deploying in a remote location.

My question is this. Should I use the DTS Wizard to export the data? Or should I just do a back up, and then on the new remote SQL7 DB to a restore to get the tables and data running on that machine?

These two servers will not have connectivity with each other so I may not be able to use DTS? Unless I export to a text file or something similar?

Recommendations welcome. Unfortunately I am not very deep in my SQL7 server knowledge other then minor tasks and installation.

Thank You!

I think backup and restore is the simple solution for you. Its easy and you can easily handle it.
It's just a suggestion. Someone might give better clue.

I agree with amir1......by far the best and easiest way for you to do this is to backup and restore. If you won't have any connectivity between the two servers then using DTS is more of a headache then it is worth.

Well I tried the back up, and restored on another SQL7 server. I had to make a database named the same thing, then I chose to "FORCE RESTORE OVER EXISTING DATABASE".

It all SEEMS to be there and correct, if anyone has any ideas or pitfalls I should look for when I do this on the production side please feel free to fill me in and thanks for the help!
