Moving oversees need 220 power supply 1

I will be moving oversee and need to get my dell to plug to a 220V socket. Called dell but talked with one of the level 1 techs and gather that he didnt know.

I am sure that there must be a way to replace the power supply or some addapters that will convert.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Some power supplies have a little red switch that you can select 220 0r 110. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....."

Mine does not have that. It is a not so old Dell Precision. However does not have the switch. I was woundering if I could at lease change the power supply.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the newer UPS's have a feature for this, as they
do regulate voltage and would allow other peripherals to connect to them?

Generally speaking and with the limited information you have supplied, slight voltage differances are not a problem as the components are designed to work within a range and have a working tollerance.
The power supply in particular is REGULATED, so it will delliver it's set voltages and ampages whatever! so the small differance in the mains values supplied shouldn't cause any problems.
But I have to say I am assuming the voltage and frequency variations are minimal and not completely differant. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

Looks like all you need is an adapter for PC, monitor, and other peripherals. The link AndrewBillits provided is good. I looked in the Radio Shack catalog and they have them also.
You shouldn't have to replace your power supply.
The US uses 117V at 60HZ and Europe uses 220V at 50HZ, isn't that correct? These adapters fix that for you. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....."

I haven't been able to find a power supply that doesn't have the little red slide switch above the power cord to change to 220(240) volts. Are you SURE you don't have one?
