Moving my file repositories generates errors

On CE10 I had to get the repository moved over to E: due to lack of space on a drive. They could not repartition D: due to the setup (VMWare machine) so changing to another drive was my only option.

I had them create a new repository for input and output but I don't think that actually matters does it? I did not have them move the .exe files over so that path remains the same.

However, it is not working as I anticipated. I had them move the input and output directories over the E: and went in the servers on the CMC to change the paths. I changed them to the new paths, but even so it is taking the data from the old directories on D: because if we remove the directories from D:, it comes up with errors saying
'Error Message: File 79443c36c9c13b8.rpt not found on File Repository Server.'.

I had them copy the files back to D: and it worked, but can someone give me insight as to what I missed here? My cache server and page server both already point to E: but the rest points to D:, is there another server I need to change or files to copy along with the repository??

Thanks in advance.
Phil

Hi,
Be sure the permissions on that drive are set to allow your input, output, page and cache servers full access..

We moved our FRS Input and Output files and, after stopping the Input and Output servers, specifying the new locations in the CMC, and restarting the servers, all worked fine.

Thanks for the reply and the tip from Turkbear.

I ended up telling them to ghost the server and rescheduling everything.

I'm bitter as it is hard for me to get anything moving here as they won't give me access to the server even though they are having people do the work for me who are classified lower than I am, go figure.

I've been waiting 4 days now to get a DSN added to the server and it hasn't been done, even though this takes all of what, 60 seconds? The last one I needed added was urgent and I still needed to beg to get it done even though the report was to present to the CIO.

Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

I had a similar issue when moving the file repositories in XI. I had to change registry settings at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BUSINESS OBJECTS\SUITE 11.5\FILE SERVER\INSTANCES\INPUT.<SERVER> and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BUSINESS OBJECTS\SUITE 11.5\FILE SERVER\INSTANCES\OUTPUT.<SERVER>}

Since XI is based on the CE code, you may have settings on a similar path to reset. The problem is that you don't have access to the server and it's probably the sort of thing where you'll have to help to find the correct entries.
