I just finished installing MS Exchange2000. I have it up and runing.

I have an ISP haddeling all my users email user@mydomain.com. IP: 1.2.3.4

I would like to drop the ISP and have all the emails for the users go to user@mydomain.com IP: 5.6.7.8

What do i need to do to get this done.

Thanks,
Marcelij1

1. Create a recipient policy on your Exchange server for @mydomain.com
2. Have the e-mail for mydomain.com relayed to your Exchange server by:
A. Changing the mydomain.com mx record to point to your exchange server
B. Having your current ISP relay e-mail (that they are already receiving) to your exchange server

I try to recommend option B, because you can limit inbound SMTP connections to only your ISP's mail servers. You should also ask your ISP about relaying outbound e-mail for you, so that it won't queue up on your exchange server.

jbud,
Thank you so much for the quick reply.
I have another question.

The ISP that is hosting my email right now, do I need to tell them anything? IF I do what is it that I have to ask them to do at their end so emails can start coming in here in my exchange server without loosing any emails.

Thanks,
marcelij1
