Hi folks,
I'm running a NW 5.0 server with Groupwise 6. I have
two volumes on the server, SYS and DATA. I wan't to
move my postoffice from volume SYS to DATA cause I have
alot of unused space on my DATA-volume and my mail-dir
is increasing lots. Is it as simple as moving the mail-
directory and change the paths in nwadmin and on the
api-server that I have (separated from the fileserver)?

regards Jocke

yep thats all

sometime best to do a quick rebuild as well just to make sure change is ok

also change path in the .poa file

[red]WARNING:[/red] DO NOT USE NWADMIN WITH GROUPWISE 6.x!

It can corrupt your db. Only use ConsoleOne.

true well spotted

must confess i always like to remove the snapins from nwadmin in case someone does that very thing

I agree. Not sure if it's possible in 6.0, but in 6.5 you can set a minimum snapin level, so any admins with old snapins cannot administer.

I'm at home right now and can't remember where to find this setting, but I'll try to remember to check when I get back to work tomorrow and post here.

Ok,
do you folks mean that I shouldn't use the "toolbox" in
nwadmin or is it all administration as changing the paths
as well?

Overlooked my tree and it seems that I need to change the
UNC-paths in DOMAIN, POSTOFFICE and GATEWAY from :
server\sys\mail\gwdom TO server\data\mail\gwdom

That should change the values in the mta-files.Then the
same change in gwpo.POA file (with the extension gwpo
after gwdom)

I also have strtweb.ncf to change for the webaccess
and gwtsa.ncf in the systemdir.

And last do a rebuild with console1 and NOT nwadmin?
(the unc-changes can be done by nwadmin?)

That should do it,or?

My 4.12 server with the API-gateway shouldn't be any problem...hopefully. :)

Jocke,

You'll need to direct your migration question to Terry. I've never done it and I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction.

I highly recommend that you not use NWAdmin for any GroupWise related tasks. In fact, like Terry said, I'd just remove the GroupWise snapins from NWAdmin altogether so that you or someone else doesn't make the mistake of using it in the future.

Regarding my previous post about locking out old snapins from GroupWise administration:
[ol][li]In ConsoleOne, select the domain object.[/li][li]From the menus choose Tools > GroupWise System Operations > System Preferences....[/li][li]On the Admin Lockout Settings tab place a checkmark in Lock Out Older GroupWise Administration Snapins and enter the version number or release date of the snapins in the appropriate textbox.[/li][/ol]
Use the "Help" button for more information on this feature. I don't think this feature is available in GroupWise 6.0, but you should check.

yep - agree use console1

the .poa's and .mta's - i tend to change manually - you can do when agent is loaded and it will write it - ie using the edit startup file

changing the unc paths in the objects is a cosmetic thing - still do it but it doesnt mod the .poa etc - notepad is your friend here

for webaccess - same - there is a user for this and his details are in the startup file - he will have rights to the domain directory make sure he keeps the rights

api gatewya - havent touched for years but should be the same
