I just took over IT for a private school that has a IP 406 setup running R2 of the IP Office software on a W2K server. The box iss on it's last leg and they need t o move to a new 2003 server. At the same time I want to upgrade to the R3 version.

Any hints on the easiest way to move this application from one box to the next or to install the new version and somehow move the config and voice mail setup.

very easy. In VMPRO select file import\export then export call flows to given location (a safe location). Then explore the harddrive and locate the install path for voicemail Pro then under the path ...\voicemail Pro\VM backup the folders Accounts, Names, Greetings and I always backup the wavs folder for safety also. Ensure these are all in the same "safe" location. Install VM Pro version 3.0.15 on the new server setting all the credentials properly, reset the server, punch in additional settings then load call flow script (in reverse order of export) and copy files back into approp locations on new server.
Upgrade IPO and base units by first installing Manager version 3.0(44), don't forget the licence dongle! (trick here, ensure the dongle program is installed before you plug the dongle in as I have seen this go curly when not done this way), on new server then going to upgrade wizard. (carefull as downtime will ensue). change IP address of new server to that of old server and swap out. Kick both server and IPO in the guts and you should have success. Then ensure you do the client software

Good Luck!

You forgot to uppercut the old server :)

Remember to also make a backup copy of the config on the old version before upgrading.

hohumIPO

just curious of what you meant by "setting all the credentials properly" I assume you mean during the CD install but just want to clarify as one of my customers called over the weekend intending to do just this server replacement.

Thanks
Jim
