Good day,

We are moving from SSAS 2005 to SSAS 2008 and we would like to know if after the upgrade. Would it be sufficiant to only back-up and then restore a cube from SSAS 2005 to SSAS 2008 or, is there more to just upgrading to SQL 2008.

In other words, after making a back-up and then restoring to 2008. Is that cube then a fully fletch SSAS 2008 cube or what else needs to be done ?

Regards

Hi nomadicalloy,

Our Cubes are not that complex it's just that, we never wanted any problems with upgrading them because they are a very important part of our business.

We have about twenty cubes and we have managed to upgrade them successfuly from SSAS 2005 to SSAS 2008.

Things are happening so fast on our side that people are already talking about moving to Visual Studio 2010 as soon as it comes out.

What experiences have you had with your upgrade process ?
