What settings do i need to change - we originally used a dialup modem connection to retrieve mail from our isp mail accounts. I have just installed a networked ADSL router.. what settings should i change on exchange 5.5 so that mail is now downloaded through the adsl modem and not through the dialup modem?

Thanks.

IF you collect your email via SMTP, then u need to inform the ISP to have SMTP PUSH to the static IP address of the ADSL. On the router u then need to port forward 25 to the Internal IP address of the Exchange server.

You should then be able to telnet (ADSL IP) 25. This should now take you straight into the Exchange server. If this works than once the ISP has made the change email will be recieved.

If you are using POP3 mail collector than all you need to ensure is that the exchange has access via the router, than allow the POP3 connector to retrieve mail from the POP3 boxes via the LAN, and disable any dialup connection.
