Does anyone know what files need to be backed up other than the .cfg when moving the firebox to a new machine? I couldn't find the info on Watchguard's oh-so-helpful site, and I'm not sure it's worth paying $250 to find out!
Are you registered with live security, they have an FAQ on their website on how to do it, but if cannot log in, you will not be able to get to it. Send me an email and I'll send you the pdf.
When you say "moving to a new machine", are you talking about a new Firebox or just a new monitoring PC? If you are upgrading to a new Firebox, like an X series then there are a couple of steps. If you are talking about just installing the management software to a different PC, then all you need to do is install it and connect to the Firebox and it will get the info from the Firebox and you can save to a config file.
I moved the FB to a new monitoring PC. The person here who initially installed it told me that I didn't need to do a thing except install the software on the new PC. Now I keep getting out of date .cfg errors, every single time I go to make a change.
The move itself was easy, maintaining it now sure isn't!
Just an update to say thank you for the help, and that updating the firmware that came with the firebox to the latest version helped with the out of date .cfg errors.
