Could someone point me in the right direction for some documentation on moving extensions from one office to another. I would like to move a phoneset including the number to another location within my office.
The easy way is to move the cross connect at the MDF.
Say office one has jack 101a and office 2 had 115b. Then go to the MDF, find the 101a and pull the jumper and reroute it to 115b. Make sure you keep the polarity the same. You might even have to run a new jumper if the old one is not long enough. Then simply relocate the phone.
If it doesnt work and you have verified your punchdown, then you would need to put a toner on the 115b and make sure you are in the right location at the MDF.
if both mod jacks are wired to a digital tn, you can do a software mov
ld 11
mov 1
2616
(from) 4 0 0 0
(to0 20 0 0 0.. but if either does not have a digital tn, swing the jumper, it's just as fast.. we do a lot of software moves due to the size of the campus and an 8000 station switch
Is there any way to tell thru software whether or not a line is digital. We have Option 11C, Looking at the cards some say digital and some say analog.
