Hello Everybody,

Situation:

Domain Controller Server running Windows 2000 SP2 (This is our file and Exchange Server)

Project: We ordered a new box which we are going to use as stand alone Exchange Server. Me, being a tech user, I need help in setting exchange to the new box. Can you guys point me to some articles or tips or tricks that will help me achieve this smoothly.

Thanks to all feature responses.

What version of Exchange do you have right now??

Assume they are all 2K,
1) install the new exchange server
2) change the MX record to point to the new server (internal and external, check your firewall if you are using port forwarding)
3) create a test mailbox in the old server
4) move the test mailbox to the new server
5) verify the move
6) move everyone over
7) remove the old Exchange server

Thanks for the help. I am running Exchange 2000
