Hi Guys.

I am moving our exchange database (exchange 2003 sp2) from the default c:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBData folder to D:\Exchange\MDBData, but the move does not complete.

It freezes at 100%, copies the priv1.edb to the new location but it freezes. So I end the process and remount the store from the old location.

Any thoughs?

Thanks

Juan.

Be patient and wait for it to complete. Depending on the size of the database it could take a while, but it will complete. Last week I had a system that I had to do this for. Took 46 minutes! (yes I was tracking as it was billable time)

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

The database moved fine, took almost 5 hours. But everything worked well.

Thanks again...

Juan

Just out of curiosity, and also for archiving this info for others who might end up at this thread, can you tell us how big the database is, and some basic specs on the server?

Glad it worked out for you. I had an individual mailbox (3GB in size) take 17 hours to move 2 weeks ago. We were moving mailboxes from an SBS server to a VM Server setup to temporarily hold mail and keep mail services running while we did maintenance on the server. It was ugly.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
