I would like to upgrade my Eudora Mac to the latest version. Currently I am using Eudora 5.1 in the paid mode located in Classic via OS 10.3.9. I would like to download Eudora 6.2.4 and install it into 10.3.9. How will I move my mailboxes and addresses from Classic 9.2.2 into 10.3.9 Eudora?

I also noticed that the paid mode is no long available, do I understand this to mean it's either the light version or I have to have the advertisement version?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Just upgraded from 5.2 to 7.1, Windows versions and just loaded upgrade over the top of the old version. Came right up with mailboxes, address book and settings, no problem. Should work same for Mac versions I would think.

Backup just in case, and give it a try.

Thanks John, but my 5.1 is located on a partitioned area of the same hard drive. I use of two different operating systems so that I can continue to use older programs and newer programs on the same computer.

I'm wondering if the newer Eudora version allows one to import addresses/mailboxes from a different location, ie, 5.1 located in system 9.2.2 into the Eudora 6.?.? that is installed in system 10.

I understand what you are saying when you said you just installed over the top of the old one, but it's different for me and My G4.

Thanks for replying.

Patt,

Sorry, missed the point of the dual op sys. My recent experience did not reveal much in the way of import, other than from various Outlook versions. Failing and import route I would be tempted to just make a copy of the old email sub-dir to a new location and try to update over the top of it with the new version. This might allow you to pick up the old mail boxes and settings. I have done this before, but I don't know if it would work in the Mac environment.

BTW, this forum seems to be deserted these days. Guess I'll stick with Eudora for now as I really haven't found a replacement I like.

John

Eudora allows import, at least the Windows version. In the worst case you can import to either Outlook or, better, Thunderbird, which will replace Eudora (well, not really, but see next thread), then reimport to Eudora.

I think it is a poor time to consider upgrading. Unsponsored 7 is, I believe, no longer sold. You can upgrade, possibly to six. There's not a lot of difference.

See next thread for the rest.
