Hi;

What is the name of the file where the e-mails are stored in Lotus Notes (on Windows ME). Where can the file be found and how can it be imported into Outlook Express 6 (on Windows 98)?

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

The Lotes Notes mail/database files use the .NSF extension. The files you seek are probably “user name".nsf They should be located in the notes\data directory. I am also interested in how to import/export the mail into another program and I have yet to find a way, can anyone help.

Hi - this is not as difficult as it seems.

Their mail file is specified in their person documents in the Domino Directory.

You could enable pop3 on your Domino server (LOAD POP3 on the Console) - together with setting their internet password in person document, the outlook client can be configured to access their mail file this way. You should then be able to download all mail and folders into a local PST file.

There is also the option of making their mail file IMAP compliant.

In all cases, I would make sure you have a decent backup of the mail files before you procede as outlook may remove all enties in their server based mail file and also IMAP requires you to run a convert against their mail file which I have found failed in the past and so I have never tried it again.

Hope this help.

Going the other way,if you do a custom install of the Notes client, you can specify conversion tools which when use correctly will export a PST to Notes format. It however seems to duplicate all personal addresses.
