I'm running NAV 8.0 on a W2k Server and am trying to move the clients from my old parent server by changing the registry of the old server. When I do this, the clients dissapear from the old server but do not appear in the new server. I've made sure both have static Ip's and also checked the registry of the new server under address cache and there is only one key, "good(0)."
Has anyone run into this before?

Thanks a lot.

One more thing, I know I can copy the GRC.dat file from the new parent server to the clients but I'm hoping there is any easier way to to do because there are 200+ computers.

Thanks.

Anyone know how to do this? I am having the same issue, but not so many clients... Right now all my clients are pointing at one server and I want to change it to another easily...any way??

You were born an original. Don't die a copy!

CompSicGuru what you need to do is give the new server the exact same name and IP address of the old manater. That is what your clients are looking for. If for some reason you can not do this there are two other ways. 1. Copy the GRC to each client. 2. Using the Symantec Systems Console NT install push too all your clients and direct them too the new manager. However I think you will agree that giving the new manager the IP address and name of the old manager is the easiest way. Once you bring the new manager up with the old servers IP and Name give your clients a little time and they will phone home. The time it takes is what every time you set your clients to check in with the parent server. Good Luck

What you need to do is to use a new tool called "savclientmover.exe" that is distributed on the new SAVCE 8.1 disks (and might be able to be downloaded from symantec). It allows you to move clients from one parent to another by selecting them from the current parent and selecting the destination parent. The two servers can be different server groups, and it works with all clients (even 9x). Its not supported by symantec, but it does work quite well (I've used it for our SAV servers). I don't see a public download of it, but it is on the new SAVCE 8.1 and Client Security 1.1 CD's.

Did you follow the instructions in Document ID: 2002101409403448?
