Moving Backup Log location

I wanted to move the location where BE 8.6 saves the backup logs.

I couldn't find it in the options or help files.
I couldn't find it on these forums (although I know it has to be here somewhere!!!)

Here's my situation:

Backup Exec was installed on the system partition of the Win2k server. The system partition is only 4 GB's. I wanted to move both the catalogs and job logs that BE generates. The catalogs were a no brainer as BE did it for me in the Options. The job logs were a different story.

- I did a search through the registry and found the following key:
- “hklm/software/veritas/backup excec/engine/misc/data path”
- I had previously moved the catalogs to D:\Backup Exec\NT\Catalogs (BE created that directory tree for me). I went ahead and added a Data directory under D:\Backup Exec\NT\ manually.
- I changed the “data path” value to D:\Backup Exec\NT\Data
- Copy (you can delete them later) the contents of the old Data directory to the new Data directory. This folder contains job logs as well as the Job Definitions, Scheduled and completed jobs
- Then RESTART the BE services (restart the Notification Server Service, it will restart the other services as well).
- Fire up BE and make sure that everything is where it should be!

Hello,
So was this post simply to help others? If so, thank you, it is exactly what I need!
One question though, when you used the options to move the catalogs (my catalogs are currently over 2GB, the Data directory is only 349KB so not worth worrying about) did it actually move the existing files to the new location? Or did it just create any new ones in the new location?
I vaguely remember having problems with this a couple of years ago.

thanks
Nick

I posted this info because I couldn't find the info anywhere.

I manually moved the catalogs to the new location.

I'm glad someone found my post useful!!!!!
