I am de-install a option 11 and move it to the new office. The option 11 have a TIE line to the main office. My question is

do I need to do a backup of the option 11? if so how?
Do I need to disable the Tie line before power it down?
What is the proper way to power it down?

This is the first time I am taking down a option 11 any help are greatly appreciate. Thanks

Are you setting it up exactly the same as it was at the old location ( DN's, trunks, DID's)

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Yes no program change on the pbx. Cross my finger on the T1 TIE move by the telco.

I would do a EDD and a BKO to your laptop. If it has a PCMCIA card, do a Archive as well. I wouldn't worry about the Tie line, just power off the breakers on the cabinets.

I would build the new BIX frame ahead of time. Also make sure you have a Isolated ground ( back to the XO of the transformer )for the PBX grounds.

I would woory more about trying to get all the EXT to the right phone more then I would about a T1.

what is EDD and BKO?? Do you have a line by line command on how to do the backup? Thanks

If you don't know what EDD is, I would seriously avise you to get a Vendor to help you.

I normally do MAC order so not too familiar with moving the whole PBX.

You will need to print out all your DNs to get your TNs, and then figure out what TNs go to which users/office. That way when you redo all the cross connects you have the correct phones at the correct locations.

As far as the PBX is concerned. I would just power it off and move it.

I concur with Acewarlock.

No denigration of your ability is intended but moving a working telephone system, regardless of it's size, to another location where it is also expected to work is a pretty big deal and if not handled correctly can go sour very quickly. Then you might find yourself floundering without a lifeline.

You may want to reconsider your plan and bring in a pro for this.

If you get it to the new location and it doesn't work, what will you do?

I have move a lot of other PBX before just not the option 11. My main concern right not is how to backup the system. I totally understand you point of view. Using another vendor to help me move is not an option for me right now. So any help on how to backup the system are greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Do you know what release software it is currently running ?

Try
LD 43
EDD What till it finishes.

Have a look at the document below. Pay particular attention to Chapter 3.

Good luck.
