Hi everyone
Does anyone know how i can find the details for the fax lines my company uses on the Meridian system? All i have is the fax numbers and the only thing i can think of doing is lifting the floor to find the port number the lines are connected too. But i'm not allowed to go digging in the floors during business hours.
I haven't had to move a fax line yet and from what i can see it's a little different to moving telephone sets around.

Thanks for your help
Tim

Print the Dnb that will give you the TN then trace the Tn on the frame and move the cross-connect to the new jack.

Thanks StoneColdphoneman

I dont have DNs for the fax lines, just the fax numbers. I've tried printing the details for the numbers in LD 20 but just get NO ACT SINCE NO DATE back form the switch?
The steps i'm trying are:
LD 20
REQ: PRT
TYPE: DNB
CUST:
DN: (tried entering the full number, the number without the area code, the last 4 digits, the last 3 digits, my bank card number, PI, etc... :)
But i just get the NO ACT SINCE NO DATE back each time?

There is NO difference between moving fax lines and phone lines so long as they are all analogue.
If your extensions are digital then your fax would probably be from an ATA, otherwise it may be a direct PSTN line.
What are the numbers of your extensions, is the fax number in the same range etc etc?????

It sounds like your fax number may be from your local phone company not a DID from your Meridian PBX. When sending a fax do you need to dial 9 first then the number like from your desk phones? If not then go to the d-marc of your phone campany (RJ21X) and see if the number is there. The start tracing your x-connects from there.

Go to fax machine and dial your 4 digit meridian ext with display and that will give you the Dn, and if the fax machine is POTS line then do what PBlaney suggested

Thanks for your help guys!

I tried dialling my ext from the faxes but no joy getting a Dn there. Managed to wade through the mess of documentation left from the previous people that dealt with the telephones, faxes, and so on (just moved it all over to I.S so i'm still learning) and found that the fax lines come direct from the PSTN as Howi said.
So given that asking BT to chage the lines over will mean it'll be done by 2009 i'm going to pull up some floor tiles and just run a new fly line from the floor box.

Once again thanks for all of your help, i'd be lost without this forum! :D

You should also builld yourself some cable/trunk records so that you always have some form or fashion of documentation to refer to and keep updated records for. Will make your like easier in the long run.
