is there some sort of protocol when creating buttons with frame actions in a movie clip?

I have a clip with 3 buttons. 2 are get url buttons, 1 is a go to and play button. the get urls work, but the other doesn't. is there some kind of building thing that I don't know about, some way you have to do it that I missed?

I know i've asked this before, but i really can't figure it out. I tried remaking the buttons, I tried remaking the entire freakin clip. same result.

Please save me!!!! spanks! Holy tek-tips batman!:-0

Perhaps I could download this little movie from you? I can't see what I'm doing wrong, it must be some stupid thing that I should see, but don't. Either that, or I could send you the .fla. It's large and in charge though.... Holy tek-tips batman!:-0

just send a blank message to me and i'll reply with the fla. dave@davdesign.co.uk

ok, ain't working again LOL aaaarrgghh

Won't let me target the movie-clip from another scene, BUT if you put actions on the labelled frame to target the clip it works that way. A bit long winded but a solution all the same.

will e-mail shortly and post afterwards

alright, the only problem is, I just need the button in the clip in frame 4 to take me to and play the movie from scene 2. There isn't a clip that I want to play there, I just want the movie to play from there. *sigh*

You're still the man.

I'm trying to simplify my .fla so that I can post it for you to look at. Holy tek-tips batman!:-0

Is frame 4 in the first scene of the main timeline.
And there's a movie-clip which holds a button?
And this button tells the movie to go and play the Scene 2 main timline?

on release> tell target _root >go to and play "start"

where "start" is the label of the first frame of scene 2.

This sounds much easier than you were asking before, surely i'm h=getting confused here.

typo alert!
I meant *scene* 4 geez.

in scene 4 there is a clip. in the clip there is a button. Button says, hey, got to scene 2 and play the movie. I made a button that points to a label at the begining of scene 2. It works if it's put directly on scene 4, but if it's put in a movie clip, it stops working.

ack. Holy tek-tips batman!:-0

but the fla I sent you contains just that. A button within a movie-clip telling the main movie to got to Scene 2.

k. I guess I just need to look harder. I may have been staring at this for too long today.

Thanks for all your help. :) Holy tek-tips batman!:-0

ok, I got it to work in a different movie, but It won't work in the one I need it to. I made a little test movie, and it works.

I don't understand why the same code wouldn't work in a different movie!!!!

maybe you will look at this thread today. I hope so. Must be a boring subject by now.... Holy tek-tips batman!:-0
