We have moved locations, differnt isp and ip address and I'm not sure what we need to do to start getting emails again? Not very knowledgeable with Exchange Server 2003 so any help would be greatly helpful.

External DNS A record PTR record and MX record for starters.

xmsre is correct. Update your MX Host record and PTR records. Also on the local side reconfigure your servers external IPs. And if your firewall does redirection update any rules needed.

If you use OWA with SSL or use Outlook over HTTP, you probably need to update your certificate as well.

I hope you find this post helpful.

That was the first thing I tried. I called the Hosting company and ask them to change the mx record, and they said they only handle the DNS only. Who else would handle the mx records if not them? Is a A Record the same as the DNS?

You need to see who your domain is registered with and contact them. Usually you can do it yourself with an online control panel.

Usually your MX Record points to an a record.

For example, MX Record might be mail.company.com. Then there is an A Record called MAIL that points to your IP. If this is the case, you would only need to change the A Record.

You can check this out by plugging your domain and setting the type to MX at
