I've got a standalone Win2K Server used for terminal services that I need to have join the domain. I need to copy the user accounts from the member server to the DC. Is there an "automated" way of doing this, versus typing them all in AD?
Thanks in advance.

Why not join the new server to the domain, upgrade it to a dc with ad, then sync with the current server. I'm assuming the domain you want to join is running ad. Just make sure you have a copy of the accounts of the users stashed somewhere safe, just in case.

I thought about that but I had always been told that terminal servers shouldn't be DCs...What are your thoughts on that? It sure would make the user situation a lot easier. Thanks for the reply.

Any user rights policies you apply to such a server apply to all domain controllers in the domain. For example, to use Terminal Services, users must be authorized to log on locally to the server. If the server running Terminal Services is a domain controller, users can log on locally to all domain controllers in the Terminal Services domain, presenting a serious security risk.
Domain controller functions place a heavy load on system resources and would thus have an effect on the user’s Terminal Server experience.
By default, enabling Terminal Services sets the server process-scheduling priority to favor interactive applications. The system does not assign top priority to critical domain-level processes such as user count replication, logon requests, logon script replication, and authentication requests.
You're correct, I did a little more research. You're gonna need a little more work.

Thanks Glen....so what do you think? After joining the TS to the domain just type the users in? We're talking about 40-50 users, not the end of the world. I don't know of any migration tools to move/copy users from member servers to AD domains. Maybe a 3rd party solution exists?

No, go to the stand alone server. In explorer, right click on the users group and select "Export Users" and select .CSV. Save the file somewhere you can get to it from the DC, and import, or copy and paste the csv file into ad. Good luck.
